Creating Artwork is Easy With Google's SketchUp

Google Searching has made my world so easy! Beyond the searching features of this tool, especially Google Images, there are the great tools that have come out of beta testing to be my tried and true for working more efficiently using my computer.

Some of my favorites are the Google Toolbar, Google Earth, and Google Maps. Let's not forget Google Alerts where you can get email updates of the topics of your choice. What about GMail and a the social Google Calendar? Nice to have for sure! Google Translate can translate web pages into so many different languages and Blogger, of course is a great tool for communicating your ideas!

A rather new entry onto the Google scene is SketchUP! I cannot wait to use this tool with a group of teachers who are working with a one-to-one laptop intiative for Math. SketchUp allows students to create 3D modeling of images and is so easy to use. I think about how visuals are so important in learning and now here is a dynamic tool free for all students to demonstrate their understanding of content and concepts! Another great score for education!!! Check out some sample entries in the Google SketchUp challenges to spark student creativity and skills.

Teachers, share ways you are using SketchUp by leaving comments for others...

Check out Google Labs for more beta tools...
